After a bachelor in Psychology (Paris Sorbonne), Jean-Pascal Elbaz been working in Paris as a journalist and for several French contemporary literature publishers.
Coming to Indonesia in 1991, he worked for École Francaise d’Extrême Orient, as well as teaching French in universities before being in charge of a translation program for the French Embassy. From 1997 to 2006 he has been successively director of the French Cultural Center(LIP/IFI) in Yogyakarta, Indonesia and the Alliance Française of Madras (India).
Coming back again in Jogjakarta in 2007, he shares his time between translations and interpretation for development organizations as well as writing and translating books, subtitling films, writing essays and articles. Currently writing a Master in Cultural Studies at IRB, Sanata Dharma University about Louis Charles Damais.
