Prof. Abhay Kumar Singh (born 1960) earned his Ph.D. in Ancient History and Culture from MJP Rohilkhand University, Bareilly, and later studied Greek Language and Civilisation at the University of Patras, Greece. Currently serving as the interim Vice Chancellor at Nalanda University, Rajgir, he has been the Dean of the School of Historical Studies and International Relations. From 2018-2021, Prof. Singh completed a diplomatic assignment in Iran as the founding Director of the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre in Tehran. Previously, at MJP Rohilkhand University, he was Head of the Department of Ancient History and Culture and Dean of the Faculty of Humanities, establishing both the Indo-Iranian Studies Centre and the Panchala Museum. Prof. Singh also served as a professor at North Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Shillong. In 2006, he received the World Prize for the Book of the Year from Iran, and later a Citation Plaque in 2008. He has presented his research internationally, focusing on ancient Indian contacts with Persians, Graeco-Bactrians, Sakas, and Kushanas. Prof. Singh has published around 50 research papers, authored one book, co-edited eight books, and supervised 14 Ph.D. scholars.
