Amir Husni was born in Aceh Besar on June 10, 1992. He earned his Master of Arts (MA) degree from Universiti Sains Malaysia in 2020 and has been a full-time lecturer in the Archaeology Study Program at the University of Jambi since 2022. His research interests focus on ancient Islamic gravestones in Sumatra.

Several of his works have been published, including the articles “Batu Nisan di Situs Binanga sebagai Indikasi Pemukiman Muslim Kuno di Pantai Barat Aceh” (Gravestones at the Binanga Site as an Indication of an Ancient Muslim Settlement on the West Coast of Aceh, 2024) and “Early Islam of Lamuri Site Based on Archaeological Evidence” (2022). He is also the author of the book Warisan Sejarah Pidie Jaya Abad ke-15 hingga Awal Abad ke-20 Masehi (The Historical Heritage of Pidie Jaya from the 15th to the Early 20th Century AD, 2022), which was based on a comprehensive mapping of ancient gravestones in Pidie Jaya Regency, Aceh Province.

Currently, in addition to his teaching duties, he is actively researching royal gravestones in Sumatra through a research program funded by the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) for the 2024–2026 period.
