Bondan Kanumoyoso was born in Madiun on November 11, 1972. He completed his Bachelor’s degree in History at the Faculty of Literature, Universitas Indonesia (1996), and obtained his Master’s degree in History from the Postgraduate Program at the same university (2000). He pursued an Advanced Master’s Program in Indonesian History at Leiden University, where he later earned his PhD in History (2011) with a dissertation titled “Beyond the City Wall: Socio-Economic Development in the Ommelanden Batavia, 1684–1740.” He currently serves as a lecturer and researcher at the Department of History, Faculty of Humanities, Universitas Indonesia. Bondan is active in national and international seminars, workshops, and public lectures, and has also served as curator for various historical exhibitions and museums. His research interests include Indonesian History, Social History, and Urban History.
